“Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing”

My dad, a former pilot for the US Air Force, used to say that. He didn’t make it up.

Landing that airbus in the Hudson River and killing no one (human), rather than in Manhattan and killing everyone on board as well as all sorts of people on the ground, took skill. It wasn’t luck.  It wasn’t a miracle.

It was skill ^ and training.

“What he did under those circumstances was nothing short of magnificent,” said Pick Freeman, a retired US Airways pilot.

Absolutely.  (I kinda wish we had had people like Capt. Sully III running the economy.)
